]]>This worldly couple currently lives in Hong Kong and is planning an amazing cliffside sunset wedding in Bali. She’s Korean American, he’s Chinese Singaporean, and their guests will be flying in from all over the world! In speaking with our bride, it was clear she was drawn to the deep blues and greens of the ocean and that she wanted their invitations to reflect either a little bit of their Asian heritage or a little bit of Bali—without being clichéd in any way. She and her fiancé both love clean, contemporary design and were initially drawn to our Viceroy invite.
It sounds like a lot to incorporate into one invitation, but I just LOVE designing for couples who really want their invites to reflect themselves and their upcoming event…and I couldn’t have been more thrilled to find this beautiful Asian-inspired fabric!

The deep blue, teal, and gold make me think of sun-kissed ocean waves, and the subtle metallic outlines bring a level of tradition and sophistication to an otherwise modern-looking fabric. From there, we decided to bring in the hydrangeas that will be used throughout her event for her printed pieces—but with a slight Balinese wood carving twist—and we were off and running!

]]>The first big piece of news is that in about three months, I will be a mommy! Yup, we are finally joining the world of happy parents out there, which is huge and very exciting.
And of course, me being me, what am I really excited about right now? Picking out fabrics for the baby room! I’ve been browsing tons of beautiful nursery inspirations, numerous huggable fabrics, yummy color palettes, and this is what I’ve landed on…at least for now.
Though I will be taking some time off with the new baby, we do still have limited availability to work on a couple more custom designs before I turn into a pumpkin toward the end of April…so definitely let me know if you’ve been eyeing some fabric invitations for your upcoming event!

I still love it as much now as I did then. Actually, I think I love it even more now that it’s inspired me to create a whole new wedding invitation suite!
I really wanted to use the idea of the floral wreath from the fabric to highlight the bride and groom’s names throughout the paper pieces. It sounds silly to say, but I think I love the wreath because it feels like a little graphic hug.
I also love that there’s something sweetly romantic about this suite, making it the perfect invitation for a rustic wine country wedding (especially in the purple!) or a whimsical garden wedding.

]]>After hearing more, I knew I was right to be excited. The baby’s room is decorated in a Paddington Bear theme, so we decided to make her baby announcements out of…yup, you guessed it…a Paddington Bear fabric! Here are the swatches I showed her…
We had a hard time picking a favorite, but I’m loving her final choice and can’t wait to start designing!

]]>This first fabric features large, abstract florals that remind me of those round cabbage-y looking succulents (like the ones in the upper left of the collage, and I sure wish I knew what they were called!). The slate blues and sage greens mirror the range of succulent hues, which incidentally are just perfect with bright yellow accents!

]]>The perfect neutral printed cotton with a classic medallion motif. It can be dressed up for an invitation to a romantic ballroom wedding or kept simple to kick off a rustic outdoor celebration.
It can stay neutral or we can punch it up with a little color. Here it is with a hint peachy pink. What about hydrangea blue…or maybe a deep plum? What would you pair it with?

]]>Imagine my excitement when my husband and I went to see The Karate Kid (the new one), and the story of the magpie bridge was told through a beautiful shadow puppet show at a Chinese Valentine’s Day festival!
I felt almost famous for almost a little bit.

It was just too much fun designing for the Viceroy’s Wedding Showcase. Between the bold black, white, and green décor and the strong geometric lines, the possibilities were pretty much endless!

The white & black invitation on the far left is a great example of how the same printed pieces can have a totally different feel when you dress them up a little differently. The printed pieces are the same as the Elegant Lace invitation, but I switched out the lace and white ribbon for a silk dupioni and a thin black satin. Voila! From elegant romance to modern style!
